Our Nonprofit Journey: Building Elsewhere by Design

At Elsewhere by Design, our mission is simple yet powerful: to transform houses into homes and empower families to reclaim their journeys and design brighter futures. We believe that a nurturing, well-designed space can change lives, offering families stability, comfort, and a fresh start. But creating a nonprofit from the ground up is no small feat—and we’re excited to share the progress we’re making.

Securing Our Nonprofit Status

One of our biggest milestones has been working toward securing our 501(c)(3) status, which will allow us to accept tax-deductible donations and apply for grants that will further our mission. This step is crucial for growing Elsewhere by Design and ensuring that we have the resources to help more families in transition. We’re getting closer every day, and we can’t wait to celebrate this achievement with you!

The Impact of Home Transformations

So far, we’ve completed one pilot home transformation project that have touched the lives of the family members, volunteers and guests alike. Our first project was more than just a makeover—it was an opportunity to provide families with a space that reflects their dignity, hope, and potential. From helping the mom navigate through decluttering the living room to fully furnishing it and creating welcoming space for the holidays it was a transformation that “felt like a hug” during the Housewarming Party Reveal.

"A house is a structure, but a home is where healing happens. It’s where confidence is built, dreams are shaped, and families begin to see what’s next." — Cheryl Mosley, Founder of Elsewhere by Design
